Today’s Weather at Tranquility Bay
It’s 91°F and sunny right now at Tranquility Bay. A gusty breeze is coming in from the south at 7 mph and there are some clouds on the horizon. There is rain and some small thunder storms predicted for later this week, but these storms are bringing some cooler weather later this week as well. Sunset tonight will be at about 8:15, the high pressure of this oncoming storm system should make it particularly spectacular.

July Fishing Report
Right now is one of the most diverse times of year for fisheries in the deep ocean and close to shore. During daylight hours there are great bites of tuna and marlin in the open ocean, while close to shore yellowtail and tarpon are still available in pretty good numbers. The heat of the day makes night fishing more attractive this time of year, and luckily there are currently plenty of night bites from mutton snapper, mangrove snapper and yellowtail. Shark fishing is at a peak right now, its suggested to always keep a bait ready incase a monster comes to investigate, you could hook into a world class fight.
Today’s Weather at Tranquility Bay
Today at Tranquility Bay the temperature is expected to rise to 84°F, with partial cloud cover until close to sunset. The rest of the week is expected to be hot but with thunderstorms on and off for at least 5 days. There is some light wind expected today, but ocean conditions are expected to be pretty calm. There should be a particularly striking sunset tonight, about 8, because of the change in pressure as these storms move in.
Mini Lobster Season
One of the Florida Key’s most frenetic and delicious anual traditions is the Mini Lobster Season. Each year for two days in July, this year on the 27th-28th, the Florida lobster season reopens and thousands of boats head out in search of lobster. The whole of Monroe County will be teeming with divers and boaters searching for adult florida lobster. This years limit is 6 per day, and measuring devices will be required on all boats along with a fishing licence and lobster endorsement.
Make-a-Wish Visitors at Tranquility Bay
The Make-a-Wish foundation, which has been enriching the lives of terminally ill children since 1980, has become a repeat guest at Tranquility Bay. The Tranquility Bay staff has been honored by being chosen to make a child’s wish come true, each time they find out what the child’s favorite toys and foods are and raise money from amongst the staff to make sure the child has as wonderful a time as possible. This is one of the best parts of working at Tranquility and we sincerely hope Make-a-Wish continues to stay at Tranquility Bay.
