The Florida Keys Celtic Festival
Aficionados can enjoy performances by some of America’s most celebrated Celtic musical masters at the second annual Florida Keys Celtic Festival, set for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 9-10, 2015.
A return of the Scottish band Albannach highlights a diverse musical lineup for the family-friendly event. Other standout performers include international super group Rathkeltair, The Screaming Orphans and West of Galway.
A “Kilts in The Keys” celebration kicks off the weekend, featuring Irish music by Bernie and Stephen of the band West of Galway from 8-10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Marathon Grill and Ale House located at mile marker 53.
Other attractions during the following two days include the bagpipes and drums of St. Andrew’s Pipe Band of Miami as well as men’s and women’s Scottish Highland athletics demonstrations.
Celtic merchandise, food and beverage vendors and children’s activities round out the weekend’s festivities.
The music fest is scheduled at the Marathon Community Park, mile marker 49, from 3-10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10.
Single-day tickets are available for Friday night at $12 per person and Saturday at $17 per person. Weekend-long admission tickets, priced at $22 per adult, are available for purchase online at www.celticheritageproductions.com/keys.htm. Children age 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.
Parking at the event is free. Specially priced Marathon accommodations also are available.
