Big Pine & the Lower Keys Island Art Festival

Subtropical temperatures, holiday-themed festivities and unique gifts handcrafted by local and regional artists are among the attractions for people planning a Thanksgiving weekend getaway in the Lower Florida Keys.
The annual open-air fair features a wide range of creative and musical offerings in an inviting natural setting. The event takes place on the wooded grounds of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, mile marker 31 oceanside on Big Pine Key, under a canopy of royal poinciana and mahogany trees.
The festival typically features several dozen vendors from the Florida Keys and South Florida, all showcasing original wares that offer a meaningful one-of-a-kind alternative to mass-produced holiday gifts.
They range from handmade jewelry and stained glass to paintings, candles, fragrant soaps, wearable art and decorative objects such as melodic wind chimes. Live plants and local foodstuffs round out the offerings.
Items are to be raffled throughout the day, providing even more opportunities for attendees to acquire pieces by members of the Keys’ flourishing creative community.
The family-friendly fair also features live music by favorite local entertainers. Food and beverages will be available from on-site vendors.
According to event organizers, Santa and Mrs. Claus are likely to make an appearance —adding to the holiday cheer — and might even find some gifts to take back to the North Pole.
Art fair admission and parking are free, but attendees are requested not to bring picnic baskets or coolers.
